I’d be shocked if Barack Obama’s read anything of Rand’s beyond Anthem, and like many liberals who claim to have read Rand, he shoots himself in the foot with his characterization of her work and philosophy. I know plenty of people who’ve read Atlas Shrugged and didn’t like it – that’s fine by me. However, what I don’t like is people who claim to have read something they clearly have not read – it’s infuriating, especially since, with the exception of possibly The Count of Monte Cristo, Atlas Shrugged is probably the most actually-read 1,000+ page novel of all time ie if you’re gunna lie about having read something, make it Finnegan’s Wake or The Faerie Queen, not Atlas Shrugged.
