I like where this is going…

Bill Quick with a cathartic post, of sorts (UPDATED – see comments):

No more. I’m tired of battling with statists of every stripe, from socialist to socon, and the myriad of bastard hybridizations between them. Henceforth, I’ll be doing a lot more linking to explicitly liberty-minded blogs and other sources, and spend my efforts on educating those who are interested in learning about the nature of liberty, the attractions of it, and its attributes – (which do not include, by the way, spurious liberties of the sort that claim liberty is being trampled if the religious or the Marxist/socialist are not permitted to impose their shibboleths on unbelievers via the forceful arm of the state).

Personally, I go out of my way to not dog the various branches of the Christian tree, but it’s getting increasingly difficult. Modern American religion is incredibly PC in its sensibilities, the Golden Rule being Do Not Offend My Sensibilities.

I don’t like people who are easily offended, and I mos-def don’t like those with weak sensibilities who use their offense not only as a shield, but as a sword. In recent years, I’ve grown fond of quoting the bromide relating religion to genitalia ie what you do with them in private is your own business, just don’t shout about it in public and shove it down the throats of children. Quite eloquent, I think.

As I’ve written recently, my days of getting behind GOPers by default are over – there are a few of my generation I like and would support, but I’d prefer a Donkey to stab me in the chest as a GOPer to stab me in the back.

  1. Crunk, I did a small bit of editing on that quote you cite, and added Marxist/socialists to the list. I omitted them originally because I tend to regard them as part of the religious – their creed is at least as irrational as the core revelations of, say, the Catholic church, with the added advantage that they have been proven wrong in the real world without exception, and have no heaven upon which to fall back on when reality defeats them utterly.

Mr. Quick – I updated the quote to reflect … the updated quote.

It dovetails better with my overall view of life – most people choose a master, some choose the church, others the state. Alternatively, so the saying goes, you can be a sheep and be bored, or a wolf and be lonely – choose wisely. Not many wolves in the world these days, but a neverending supply of sheep.
