Instapundit linked this, and I liked it – really liked it:
In some ways the anti-white-man rhetoric that has become standard and acceptable lately is the worst sign of all. If the term “hate speech” has a meaning, it most definitely would apply to a great deal of what has been said recently about that despised group. Those who are first to shriek “racism” and “sexism” when criticism is launched against a group defined as oppressed (blacks, women) are turning the tables and dissing white men with impunity. It is both hypocritical and vile, and especially offensive when cloaked in the sanctimony of those on the left who believe they occupy the moral high ground (that would be everyone on the left).

What people who aren’t white men don’t understand is that non-neutered, non-scared, non-hipster white men don’t care what other people think of us. We do what we do without apology and without asking permission. We don’t ask for thanks or acknoweldgment, and we don’t apologize for being who we are, nor do we ask for special recognition of the same.
While some might argue that this is “privilege,” I think it’s something much different – we just don’t care, and we abide by the simple rule of private life: it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
We don’t need focus groups to know what to like, and we don’t need group therapy to diagnose our problems. Furthermore, we don’t need a condemnation of The Other when fool after fool paints us as subhuman. White men aren’t popular among the loud political classes and we’re not lionized by CauseHeads – we don’t need to be popular among people with microphones, and we don’t need the sympathy of people who aren’t us.
Part of what’s grand about being a white guy is the ability to say, “Fuck you, that’s why” and mean it. We admire women who defend us, but at the end of the day, we just don’t care. We are who we are, and the only thing you really need to know is get off my goddamn lawn.
I say that as an evil white man who lives in a condo, btw.
Most White Men live by the same simple, ingrained code that I do: keep your hands off my money, my property, and my guns and we’ll be fine. This view isn’t exclusive to White Men, of course, but the Obama campaign didn’t run a paralell “Julia” ad buy aimed at men, explaining how the government will take care of us from birth to death.
We don’t want it, and we don’t need it. And yes, fuck you, that’s why.
